Andrew Turner

Founder and CEO

Andrew founded Banner Asset Management in 2010, with a vision to establish a truly independent lender with an original view.

With 25 years of experience in Global Financial Markets behind him, Andrew set up one of Australia’s independently owned private investment firms specialising in real estate, with his investor-first approach shaping the ethos of the company to this day.

Andrew has extensive banking and financial expertise, with a long track record of working in capital markets. He has worked in London, Tokyo and Australia with leading international financial institutions and has been investing in alternative real estate opportunities since 1998.

Andrew is a member of the Banner Investment Committee and an owner of Melbourne United.

Brett Macgillivray

Head of Legal and Compliance, Director

Brett has over 30 years experience in funds management and law, including over 20 years’ as partner in several Melbourne-based legal firms and an international consultancy practice. Brett has an extensive track record of representing international and local banks, listed corporates, funds and private financiers.

Throughout his career, Brett has specialised in finance and the funds management industry and has owned and operated managed funds.

As Group Legal Counsel at Banner, Brett works across legal, business structuring, compliance, lending, investor publications and establishing new funds, in addition to a broad range of roles within operations.

Brett holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws. He is a compliance officer, responsible manager and a member of the Banner Investment Committee and a director.

Nicholas Lakin

Chief Lending Officer

Nick has more than 30 years’ experience in corporate and property finance, working for a range of domestic and international institutions in Melbourne and New York. His previous responsibilities included managing a significant portfolio of leveraged construction loans for a high-profile international bank.

Nick has owned and operated managed funds and acted as the Finance Director for a substantial Australian property developer. He has an extensive network within the property industry, which includes a number of privately-owned and successful real estate groups

Matt Hogg

Head of Property

Matt has over 25 years experience in the property industry having held senior roles for public companies and consulting to high net worth family offices and landowners, driving strategic town planning initiatives and managing individual development projects and portfolios throughout the project life cycle.

He has developed projects in his own right and has worked on, repositioned and delivered a wide variety of assets from industrial, commercial, retail, land subdivision and medium density housing, as well as infill and brownfield sites with complex town planning and remediation matters.

George Cupac

Head of Private and Institutional Markets

George brings over 26 years of experience in a career spanning across domestic and international financial services, investment management, capital markets and growing businesses. His career includes Swiss private banking experience operating throughout Europe, Asia, Middle East and North America, as well as heading-up both private and institutional market channels within Australia and wider APAC region. Within Australia, he has successfully developed and distributed to the wholesale investor channel – in particular the private markets and institutional investor base. He also developed, managed and operated businesses from a private equity/venture capital perspective, including people management, strategic growth and expanding footprint and market cap.

Geore has served as part of the senior management structure of both public and private companies. Renowned by industry and peers for passionate, inclusive, and developmental leadership, for introducing innovation and challenging the status-quo. Recognised by Boards for growing businesses and introducing successful business processes and partnering with CEO/Chairs in executing growth and engagement strategies.

Nicola Chow

Legal Counsel and Operations Manager

Nicola is an experienced Legal Counsel with a demonstrated history of working in the investment management industry.

She practised for a number of years as a lawyer in commercial litigation, insolvency and corporate reconstruction. While in private practice, Nicola acted for banks, builders, property developers, liquidators and bankruptcy trustees with experience in the enforcement of securities, building and construction contracts and disputes, property transactions, corporate insolvency and bankruptcy.

At Banner, Nicola is the Operations Manager and a member of the Legal and Compliance team, focusing on transaction structuring and compliance. Nicola holds a Bachelor of Laws degree (with honours) and a Bachelor of Business.

Jeremy Vogler

Director

Jeremy has been an active investor in international real estate since 1986. He has 27 years’ experience in the international money markets, specialising in managing interest rate options groups.

Since 1989, Jeremy has held director and senior management positions in leading brokerage companies in Hong Kong, London and Tokyo. He is currently a principal of Estuary LLP, a fund specialising in Argentine agricultural and construction investment trusts.

Jonathan Mitchell

Director

Jonathan has over 25 years’ experience in global financial markets, holding various senior management positions in the fixed income departments of leading investment banks in Sydney, London and Tokyo.

Throughout his career, Jonathan was responsible for the management of multiple derivative trading teams, while additionally providing risk mitigation analysis and advice to corporate pension schemes. This lead him to subsequently implement and manage some of the longest dated inflation, interest rate swap and option positions to have been priced at that time.

Trevor Reynolds

Director

Trevor is a highly experienced private wealth manager who has worked with high-net-worth individuals for over 28 years, giving clients professional advice and services that help guide their wealth as efficiently as possible in both advisory and discretionary roles.

He has extensive international banking and financial expertise, having worked in Australia, London, and Tokyo.

At Banner, Trevor specialises in investment in Australian mortgage securities within the Ebisu Fund, as well as international investments, asset management, hedge funds, debt and equity capital raising, fund management and structured debt arrangements.
